[Pronunciation: silica /ˈsɪlɪkə/]

Silica was once the most common type of material used for wicking in e-cigarettes, it was rapidly replaced by cotton by many in the rebuildable community and then eventually by the mass produced coil and tank manufacturers. Silica was chosen due to its very high melting point, and the fact it could be cleaned with an open flame such as a butane torch. Most silica used in e-cigarettes is thin braided silica cordage or rope.

Currently located in Sydney, Australia, I have been vaping since 2009 and became active in the e-cigarette industry in late 2015. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of visiting over 700 shops in 6 countries.
