Drip tips were originally designed as an alternative mouthpiece (to using cartridges) that would allow the user to easily drip e-liquid directly down the hold in the drip tip and onto the wick and coil of the atomizer head. This effectively made the very first dripper. The size required to fit on an atomizer head cone also matched the internal diameter of a cartomizer as well and since removing a drip tip was easier than removing the silicone plug, these rapidly became a standard for cartomizer users as well as atty drippers. As technology evolved, these drip tips started becoming common on mass produced tanks, glassomizers, rebuildables and basically every topper in the industry up until the more recent chuff cap started replacing drip tips on rebuildables and some mass produced toppers.
Drip tip styles and materials range as wildly as the toppers and mods they sit on, they’re available in many different types and finishes of metal, plastic, delrin, ceramic, blown glass, pyrex, silicone, stabilized wood and probably many more.
