Generally speaking, mechanical mods can seem very expensive to an outsider who really only sees a thin tube of metal with a topper on it… This perception has given rise to the ‘clone’ mod, which is a mod designed to look like a more expensive ‘authentic’ mod, or even sometimes to look like a slightly more expensive clone, making it a clone of a clone. I won’t give a generalized recommendation on clones because there are so many on the market… I will say they’re very hit and miss in my experience, some are great, developing a fan base of their own and may improve upon their authentic counterparts design and end up becoming a better device to own, while others are just plain dangerous and shouldn’t be sold to anyone.

As I said in the mechanical mods entry, if you’re new to vaping you should steer clear of clones until you have a solid understanding of the risks of misusing them, before buying one. They’re not inherently dangerous, but in the wrong hands they definitely can be, do your research and make sure you always treat them with respect no matter what your level of experience.

Currently located in Sydney, Australia, I have been vaping since 2009 and became active in the e-cigarette industry in late 2015. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of visiting over 700 shops in 6 countries.
