Selecting The Right Vape Juice – A Step-by-Step Guide
Everyone’s tastes are a little different – what’s amazing for one person might be downright disgusting for another. That’s as true of vaping as anything else, which is why it’s important to exercise the utmost care when purchasing flavors. Here’s how to get yourself on the right track in that regard.
It can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what vape juice to buy – especially if you’re totally new to the vaping community. There are, after all, enough flavors on the market to make your head spin. How exactly are you to know which ones are the right match for you?
It’s easier than you’d think – let’s talk about that.
Know What You Like
First thing’s first, what sort of palate do you have where food’s concerned? Are you into sweeter stuff, or do you prefer savory? Are there any types of fruit you absolutely love? Any you can’t stand?
Of course, you might not be adventurous enough to try any of the food or fruit blends out there. You might prefer to vape something that matches the taste of a cigarette brand you enjoy smoking. That’s perfectly fine too.
Regardless, the most important thing to remember is that if you don’t like a particular taste when it’s on your plate, you probably won’t like it in your vape. It’s therefore best to start with flavors you’re pretty sure you’ll like. You can always branch out later.
Figure Out How Much Nicotine You Want
There are several different strengths of e-liquid – if you’re going from smoking cigarettes to vaping, you’ll want to account for how heavy of a smoker you were before starting. Too high, and you’ll end up giving yourself nicotine poisoning (it is a thing, and it’s extremely unpleasant). Too low, and you aren’t going to get any sort of buzz from your vape.
If you were a particularly light smoker, go for a low concentration. If you consumed half a pack to a pack of cigarettes a day, medium is probably the way to go. And if you’re a heavy smoker, pick up some vape juice with a high concentration.
Understand The Difference Between PG and VG
There are two primary ingredients in vape juice aside from nicotine, water, and flavoring – Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin. The former tends to be a lot more flavorful, but produces much weaker vapor. It also absorbs far more readily into your coil.
The latter, meanwhile, tastes a little sweeter and can overpower certain flavors of juice. It also produces much more vapor. The trade-off, of course, is that it causes a much faster build-up of residue on your vape.
Usually, vape juice with a higher concentration of PG tends to be higher-quality. That said, there are some people who are allergic to PG. If you’re among those, you might find yourself short of breath or breaking out in hives after vaping – you’ll want to seek VG-based juice instead.
Do Your Research Before Buying From A Shop
What are people saying about the brand on the web? Do they have a good reputation? Did prior customers have a great experience purchasing from them?
Note that a brand with nothing but good reviews is just as suspicious as a brand with nothing but positive, glowing reviews. Most vape shops will have a combination of good and bad. The best ones will actively try to address their negative reviews.
When In Doubt, Taste Test
Last but certainly not least, if you’re able to, I’d highly recommend testing a flavor before you commit to purchasing it. Most retail outlets will have samplers that you can try out. That way you won’t throw money into a flavor you can’t stand – you can stick to what you love.
There are hundreds of different vape flavors on the market. Finding one you like can be overwhelming. I get it.
Just follow the steps I’ve outlined here, and you’ll be just fine. Experiment a bit. Try flavors you might ordinarily shun. Eventually, you’ll find your perfect taste.
Good luck, and most importantly, enjoy yourself.
